HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A hiker who spent the night on the Manana Trail in Pearl City after going missing while hiking on Sunday has been rescued, according to Honolulu Fire Department officials.
An HFD spokesperson says that five people went hiking on the trail on Sunday and were heading for the waterfall when the party split at some point, with four people going one way and the fifth, a male in his thirties, going another. The man did not have a cell phone or any food or water.
When the rest of the hiking party returned to their vehicles, the man was not there, as they had expected he would be, and they notified authorities.
A search for the man began but was called off at around 6:30 p.m. due to darkness.
On Monday morning, about three men were inserted into the trail via a helicopter, and made contact with the missing hiker about a half hour later. The hiker was brought out of the trail and was reported to be in good shape.
