Honolulu Firefighters pulled a man's body out of the water near Sand Island Thursday, and an investigation is underway to determine who he is and how he died.
A kayaker found the body at 10:30 a.m. off the Keehi Boat Ramp near the Marine Education Center, HFD spokesperson Capt. Terry Seelig says.
The Medical Examiner's office has asked for the public's help with identifying the man and released the following description:
Height: 6'2" Weight: 180-200 lbs. Age: 20-40 years old Race: Possibly Caucasian Hair: Short, dark hair; No apparent facial hair or noticeable scars Two visible tattoos: "freedom" in Old English-like script across the upper back; eagle/phoenix-like picture on the upper middle chest; both tattoos are single color black Possibly smokes Marlboro cigarettes Clothing: Olive green colored Ezekiel T-shirt (possibly size medium); black Under Armor shorts with small white polka dots; no shoes or slippers
Anyone who has information that can help identify this person is asked to call 768-3090.
The Medical Examiner's office says there appears to be no evidence of foul play, but says that may change after an autopsy is performed on Friday.
