HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Florida Gulf Coast University was the darling of the NCAA Tournament. Now, one of the 'Dunk City' contributors is transferring to Chaminade. Head Coach Eric Bovaird has signed 6-2 guard Christophe Varidel. Varidel will have one season of eligibility with the Silverswords.

Varidel averaged 6.2 points per game for the Eagles in 16.2 minutes of action per game this past season.

FGCU was the buzz of the basketball world after becoming the first #15 seed to advance to the Sweet-16 in the tournament.  The Eagles eventually lost to Florida in a  regional semifinal.

Head Coach Andy Enfield was hired away by USC after the end of the season, and now Varidel is set to join the 'Swords.

Varidel's best performance of the tournament came in a 10-point win over San Diego State in the 2nd round.  He scored 11 points, going 3-5 from 3pt range in the 81-71 upset.
