(Hawaii News Now) - Tyler Miranda is an emerging writer recognized in 2009 with the Editors' Choice Award for Best Prose in BAMBOO RIDGE, JOURNAL OF HAWAI'I LITERATURE AND ARTS, Issue #94. The prose piece for which he received the award was an excerpt from his first novel, 'EWA WHICH WAY, scheduled for release next month.
Currently living in Boise, Idaho, Tyler will be in Honolulu for one week to launch his book with readings at the Kapolei Public Library, Native Books - Na Mea Hawai'i, the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, UH West O'ahu, Kapi'olani Community College, and Kamehameha Schools. A local boy returning home to debut his opus, Tyler was born and raised on the less developed west side of O'ahu, where his coming-of-age novel is set. His experiences growing up in a local Portuguese-Hawaiian community have strongly influenced his writing, particularly with his Caucasian looks making him a minority in the neighborhood
