An East Texas disaster relief team is on stand-by, ready to help in the West plant explosion.
The East Texas Baptist Men disaster relief team of Harleton are preparing to provide mobile kitchens and shower facilities to victims and relief workers in West. The team has helped out in numerous disasters over the years, from hurricane evacuees to storm victims. They'll provide generators and propane for power, and support for those who've lost so much.
"It's sharing the Lord's love with those people that are effected by the different disasters that they encounter. Whether it's hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, explosions, ice storms, we're there. Our state disaster relief coordinator went to West yesterday to meet with officials and right now they're assessing the situation and it's possible that some of the feeding units and other ministry units may be called to go there," says team unit leader Jerry Don Jones.
The East Texas Baptist men relief organization is funded through public donations, and is made up entirely of volunteers.
