The list of players who have received the Gatorade Georgia Boys Basketball Player of the Year includes several current and former NBA players.
Dwight Howard, Derrick Favors, and Kwame Brown all highlight the award's history.
Now, you can add Tift Co. superstar Brannen Greene to the award's recipients.
Greene averaged 27 points, nine rebounds, and six assists a game last season, leading the Blue Devils to a state quarterfinal appearance.
He received his award today for the honor, and the school will hang a commemorative banner in the gym.
Greene says he's just glad to see his hard work pay off, and is happy to join a list with some of basketball's biggest names.
"When I'm no longer playing this game, I can tell my kids, my grandkids this is what I won," Greene says. "It's possible, nothing's impossible. I didn't grow up in a big city. I grew up in a small town, and it's just all about hard work. If you work hard, you can accomplish whatever you want to."
The Blue Devil star will play his college ball at Kansas.
