LAS VEGAS, Nevada (HawaiiNewsNow) - Travis "Hapa" Browne spent weeks getting prepared for his fight against Gabriel Gonzaga, but he only needed 71-seconds to determine the outcome, Saturday night at the UFC's TUF 17 finale on FX.
In round one, Browne (a Waianae native) found himself backed against the cage by Gonzaga. The former heavy weight champion pressed his right shoulder into the mid-section of Browne but being that low against a 6-foot-7 opponent appeared to be the wrong position.
Browne unleashed a barrage of right elbows onto the left-side and back of Gonzaga's head, dropping the 33-year-old to the canvas and prompting referee Chris Tognoni to stop the fight at the 3:49 mark of the first round.
The win improves Browne to 14-1-1.
