Officials capture Big Island escapee

BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - Officials located a female inmate who escaped from Hale Nani Correctional Facility Sunday morning by scaling a 15 ft. razor wire fence.

Shaylyn M. Araw was arrested at about 4 p.m. in the Wainaku area. A tip from the public led to her arrest.

How she was able to escape from the facility is under investigation.

Araw was being held on burglary and theft charges.
