Chad Owens wins MMA debut

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Chad Owens was victorious in his mixed martial arts debut Saturday night at the Blaisdell Arena.

The former University of Hawaii Warrior and current receiver for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League defeated Junyah Tevaga of Maui by unanimous decision.

Owens, the CFL's Most Outstanding Player, came out of the gates on fire. Scoring on a combination of take downs and ground-and-pound in the first round. By the end of the three three-minute rounds, Owens had bloodied Tevaga in an impressive amateur debut.
