HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A strong earthquake has jolted Papua, Indonesia, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake measured magnitude 7.1 at a depth of 46 miles.
Indonesia, the world's largest archipelago nation, is prone to seismic upheaval due to its location on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," an arc of volcanoes and fault lines in the Pacific Basin.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says that a destructive Pacific-wide Tsunami is not expected and there is no Tsunami threat to Hawaii.
