Warriors are swept by UCSB, likely see playoff hopes dashed

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The festivities of senior night were dampened by the realization that the post season is all but a fantasy for the Warrior volleyball team.

The 12th ranked Warriors were swept by 8th ranked UC Santa Barbara (25-21, 25-20, 25-19), Saturday, likely dropping UH out of reach of finishing within the top eight of the MPSF standings and a spot in the conference playoffs.

Outside hitter Sinisa Zarkovic led the team with seven kills. Outside hitter Jace Olsen came off the bench and tallied six kills. As a team, UH hit just .132.

Even Licht led the Gauchos (14-12, 10-10) had a match-high 18 kills and hit .433. Austin Kingi added nine kills. UCSB hit .349 as a team.

Following the match, UH's lone senior Matthew Cheape was honored during the traditional Senior Night ceremony.

The Warriors will take a break from MPSF action next week to host their annual Alumni match, Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
