Special Marine Warning issued for windward, southeast waters on Big Island

BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Special Marine Warning for southeast and windward waters of the Big Island until 10 p.m.

At 8:53 p.m., radar showed an area of heavy rains and possible hail along with strong localized winds of 62 nautical miles southeast of Kailua-Kona, moving south at 5 knots.

Mariners can expect gusty winds, locally higher seas, and reduced visibility in heavy rain. Seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.
