A 32-year-old Kaneohe man was killed late Monday night during an apparent motorcycle crash on the Likelike Highway near the Wilson Tunnel, according to police.
The victim, who was traveling in the Kaneohe-bound direction just before midnight, apparently took a turn at a high rate of speed and lost control of his Yamaha motorcycle. Police believe he hit a guard rail after being ejected from his bike, sustaining fatal injuries.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police shut down the Likelike Highway at Nalanieha Street for nearly 3 hours as they conducted a traffic investigation. Officials say they believe speed and alcohol may have been factors that contributed to the crash.
The man's identity has not yet been released.
