HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Kauai, Niihau and Oahu. The Flood Watch is in effect from Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon.
According to the NWS, Moisture pooled near Kauai and Oahu will be enhanced as a strong disturbance aloft passes over the islands Tuesday night and Wednesday.
- From 6 p.m. Tuesday to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
- A strong trough aloft will pass over the chain Tuesday night and Wednesday, destabilizing the island atmosphere. Moisture is in place near Kauai and Oahu, and the threat of flooding is great enough to warrant a Flash Flood Watch.
- Heavy Rain will be widespread and should also affect urban areas in lower elevations. These areas will be more susceptible to flooding problems. Intense rain Fall Rates are possible. Especially over the slopes, and will likely last sufficiently long to produce flash flooding of streams.
