UH Softball team sweeps opening conference series

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.(HawaiiNewsNow) - The 20th ranked Rainbow Wahine softball team swept its opening series in Big West play with a 9-3 win over Cal State Northridge, Sunday.

Hawaii pitcher Kaia Parnaby was stellar in the circle yet again, logging a complete game while scattering nine hits with no walks and one strikeout. Parnaby's record improves to 23-3 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.

Offensively, Hawaii exploded for six runs, with two outs, in the fourth inning. Kelly Majam drilled a double to a gap in left-centerfield to score tara Anguiano and Jazmine Azmora. Kayla Wartner then hit an RBI single through the infield to score Majam. Keiki Carlos then hit a triple to centerfield that scored Wartner. Jessica Iwata then followed up with a double to right-center that scored Carlos, giving UH a 7-0 lead.

In the 6th, Leisha Li'ili'i hit a solo home run, her third in as many games.

Hawaii returns home to host two straight series against UC Davis (Mar. 29-30) and UC Riverside (April 5-6).
