HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Records fell and milestones reached as the Rainbow Wahine softball team (22-7) claimed the 2013 Chevron Spring Fling tournament championship.
In game one of the day, Senior Kelly Majam hit the 62nd home run of her career, moving her into the top-25 of the NCAA all-time career leaders list. Hawaii upset 14th ranked Baylor 5-1 advancing to the title game against Syracuse.
In that game, UH pitcher Kaia Parnaby struck out 17 batters setting a new school record for strikeouts in a game. As great as Parnaby was, the Bows needed a walk off home run by Sharla Kleibenstein in the 12th inning to down Syracuse 3-2.
Parnaby also set new career-highs with her 20th win and 214 strike outs on the season.
Next up, the 20th ranked Bows hit the road for three games at Cal State Northridge. That series begins with a double-header on Saturday, March 23.
