HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Ala Moana Boulevard was closed in both directions Friday morning between Ward Avenue and Koula Street due to a traffic investigation after a utility pole caught fire when a car crashed into it, police say.

The two-door sports car was towed away with front end damage.

No injuries were reported.

HECO says the pole does not need to be replaced, however crews need to repair service connections to a single customer.

Ward Avenue reopened at about 2 a.m. in both directions except for the right lane going westbound fronting Cutter dealership.
