Rainbows Earn First Home Win

Posted: Updated:

HONOLULU – The Rainbows baseball team did just enough to earn its first home win of the season Tuesday.   Matt Cooper pitched a three-hit, complete game shutout, walking none while striking out three Gonzaga batters.  The offense supplied two crucial runs for UH.

UH scored both of their runs in the 3rd inning.  Austin Wobrock led off the frame with a perfectly executed drag bunt.  The throw to first went wide, and Wobrock advanced to third.  Steven Ventimilia brought him home with an infield single.  Later in the inning, Marc Flores plated Ventimilia with a single.

UH improved its record to 2-15.  They now have a week off before hosting Wichita State.
