Police seek armed suspect who robbed Honolulu credit union

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Police are searching for a man who robbed the Oahu Federal Credit Union on Pauoa Road near Punchbowl.

A teller at the bank informs Hawaii News Now that the robbery occurred Tuesday afternoon around 1:45 p.m., and the suspect was armed with a silver handgun.

Police say he escaped on a yellow or orange bicycle with an unknown amount of cash. A search is now underway for a man last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, light-colored baseball hat, black cloth covering his face and black gloves. The suspect was also seen carrying a black fanny pack over his shoulder.  He is described as an Asian male in his 20s, about 5'4" tall and weighing between 120 and 130 pounds.

Nearby schools are not on lockdown and are instead allowing students to leave for the day, police say.

Anyone with information that may help with this investigation is asked to call police.
