Tonight at 5: Tsunami anniversary, Prison cellmate murder, Maui school lockdown

JAPAN TSUNAMI ANNIVERSARY

It's been two years since a deadly tsunami struck Japan. And while Japan is still reeling from that devastating earthquake and massive waves, the deadly event has meant advances in how scientists deal with tsunamis. More on that from Mileka Lincoln tonight.

NEW DETAILS IN ALLEGED PRISON MURDER CASE

Also, we have new details tonight on that OCCC inmate arrested in a deadly fight over the weekend. 32 year old Joseph Tui is accused of killing his cellmate, 76 year old, Cyril So Sung Chung.

    Maui Electric customers will now be paying more for their power, after the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission approved a base-rate increase for the company. Residents of Maui, Lanai and Molokai will all experience an increase in utility bill costs that translates to about $5 more a month. It's Maui Electrics first approved interim rate increase in more than six years — and it's less than half what the company originally asked for last October.  The new fares go into effec...More >>
