Lockdown lifted at two Maui schools, no arrests made

KAHULUI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Maui High School and Kahului Elementary School were on lockdown Monday after someone reported seeing a teenager jump over the fence and onto the high school property, Maui police say.

According to a female witness who called 911, the suspect appeared to be about 16-years-old and was trying to conceal a black handgun under his shirt.

The lockdown at Maui High School began shortly after 10:45 a.m. and at Kahului Elementary School around 11:15 a.m.  The all-clear was given at 12:30 p.m.  Police searched both the high school and elementary school campuses and found no sign of the suspect.

The witness described the suspect as follows:

Male
Height: 5'3"
Build: Thin
Hair: Medium length, wavy
Wearing: White T-shirt, jeans

According to officials, teachers and students are all safe.  Police are investigating.
