WAIANAE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Two 14-year-old girls were taken to the hospital in serious condition after a minivan crashed into a utility pole on Waianae Valley Road early Sunday morning.

Authorities said the crash happened at about 5 a.m. near 85-440 Waianae Valley Road. One of the 14-year-old girls was driving the minivan, which broke the utility pole at the base. Honolulu Police say the girl was cited for driving without a license.

The crash also knocked out power to some 2,100 customers in Waianae. According to Hawaiian Electric Company, power was restored to all but approximately 250 customers by 7:30 a.m.

Hawaiian Electric crews completed repairs on the damaged pole Sunday afternoon. As of 4 p.m., all customers affected by the outage had their power restored.
