HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A High Surf Advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday for the north and west shores of Niihau and Kauai and the north shores of Oahu and Molokai.
The National Weather Service said waves of 15 to 20 feet are possible Sunday. The west shores of Oahu and Molokai, which are not under an advisory, could still have elevated surf of 8 to 12 feet.
Forecasters cautioned beachgoers to be aware of strong breaking waves and shore breaks. Strong longshore and rip currents will make swimming difficult and dangerous. Heed all warnings from ocean safety lifeguards.
