Big Bear Electric suggests installing LED lights to save on home energy costs.
North Richland Hills, TX (PRWEB) March 08, 2013
Chances are that homes built before 2000 do not meet the energy standards of today. Changes to meet the standards of a modern home are often expensive. If looking for an economical solution to save on energy cost, then check out LED lighting.
LED lighting is a great solution to energy savings. LED lighting is the future of lighting. The cost for a typical light bulb is about 3 to 4 times higher, but the energy it saves and not having to constantly change light bulbs will offset this cost in about 2 years.
A home around 2,000 square feet has an average of 60 to 80 light bulbs. Each light bulb ranges from 40 to 75 watts. An LED light bulb is about 10 watts each. LED lights can last up to ten years. Most manufacturers warranty the bulb for 5 years.
Another way to save energy is to make sure the recessed fixtures in the home are "air tight". Some recessed fixtures have holes and slots in the metal housing. This is where air from the inside of a home escapes when the air conditioner or heat is on and where air from outside enters when the air conditioner or heat is off. If there are recessed fixtures in the ceiling that are not "air tight" then think of the ceiling as Swiss cheese. If the recessed fixtures are not "air tight", then there is no need to change them all out, this would be very expensive. Metal duct tape can be used to cover these holes, and a roll is about $15.
LED lighting and sealing the holes in the recessed fixtures of the ceiling will absolutely save a significant amount of money on energy cost!
So when a light bulb goes out change it with an LED. I would say in less than 2 years, the entire home will be energy saving LED lighting.
