Honolulu (HawaiiAthletics) - University
of Hawaii's Jared Spiker claimed Big West Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week
honors after winning in both singles and doubles against No. 73 Xavier this
past week.
Spiker won his singles match at No. 3 against Xavier's Zach Mueck by a 6-2, 6-0
score.
He also partnered with David Schuster to capture an 8-3 victory
against the Musketeer duo of Philip Diaz and Patrick Brandy.
Spiker
is currently 4-5 in singles this season with four of his losses coming at the
hands of ranked teams. He is also 3-5 in doubles teaming up primarily with
Schuster.
The
Warriors are in the midst of a four-match road trip. They opened with a 4-3
defeat at Loyola Marymount, then fell to No. 2 UCLA on Wednesday.
UH
now flies to Fresno to take on Fresno State (Mar. 9) and Washington (Mar. 10).
