Applause goes to all those who have worked hard to
create a veterans court in Hawaii.
This was an effort years in the making and it is
finally coming to fruition, thanks to our judiciary.
Hundreds of men and women are coming home after a
decade of war and they need help.
If they get in trouble with the law, it is possible
that their cases can end up in the new veteran's treatment court, where they
can get help for their special needs caused by the trauma of battle.
One in four of our returning troops are suffering
from a mental health condition related to their service. One of nine
incarcerated nationally is a veteran.
