A photo that was released by the Obama campaign prior to his election as President of the United States in 2008 has gone viral after it resurfaced on the social news site Reddit.com on Monday.

Showing a young Obama on a beach in Hawaii atop the shoulders of his grandfather, Stanley Dunham, the photo was commented on more than a thousand times and later shown online by news outlets such as The Huffington Post.

Obama, who was born and raised in Hawaii and graduated from Punahou School, has returned to the islands with his family every winter since he was elected president.
