HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The eleven-hour search for escaped murder suspect Teddy Munet on Feb. 20 cost the Honolulu Police Department nearly $20,000 in overtime pay, HPD has revealed.

The alleged murderer escaped around 8 a.m. while he was being escorted to the intake area of Circuit Court on Punchbowl Street. He was caught after 7:20 p.m. the same day in downtown Honolulu on Waimanu Street.

During the manhunt, HPD Major Richard Robinson told Hawaii News Now, "We believe he's a very dangerous suspect. We're making every effort to get him back in custody." Police dispatched 25 plain clothes officers and other officers to search for Munet, primarily in the Kakaako and Ala Moana areas, according to Maj. Robinson.

The final cost for overtime is $19,500.
