Hawaii bankruptcies on the decline

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

There were only 168 bankruptcy filings in Hawaii in February, Honolulu Federal Bankruptcy Court reports.

The number was down 25 percent from the same month last year, and the lowest number for any February since 2008, according to the court's figures.

Most of the filings were outright Chapter 7 liquidations, as has been the case for years.

There were 106 filings on Oahu, 27 on the Big Island, 27 in Maui County, and just eight on Kauai, the court said.
