NEW YORK, March 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mohan's Custom Tailors, the premier custom clothing company, has partnered with the non-profit HOPE Program, an organization that empowers New Yorkers to achieve economic self sufficiency through employment and career advancement, for their second annual "Suit Up For Hope" event. Mohan's provided over a dozen custom made suits and shirts, valued at approximately $15,000, to graduates of The HOPE Program for use in job interviews and future employment.
HOPE Program participants face a variety of employment barriers, including substance abuse, jail time and caring for ailing family members. Many have spent years believing that these obstacles are impassable and they are not deserving of more. The HOPE Program is committed to helping these men plan a brighter future by providing hundreds of hours of rigorous training in literacy, computer skills, customer service and more. The training also includes dressing for success, which is where Mohan's Custom Tailors is involved.
"In 1972, when I came to America, I had nothing. People didn't take me seriously and thought I wasn't deserving of their business. All it took was for one person to give me a chance so I could prove myself. I feel so fortunate to be in a position where I can give back to others looking for a fresh start," said Mohan's Custom Tailors Founder, Mohan Ramchandani. "The HOPE students and graduates are hard-working and dedicated to succeeding, which is a value we share. The feeling they will have when they go out on their job interviews, standing tall and confident, will make them believe they're capable of anything."
"We are so appreciative of the opportunity that Mohan's Custom Tailors is giving to HOPE students," said The HOPE Program's Executive Director, Jennifer Mitchell. "They have walked away transformed not only by a brand new custom tailored suit made especially for them but by a first rate customer service experience. We work hard each day to transform lives and Mohan's generosity is helping us to do so in a very meaningful way. This is the beginning of a wonderful partnership."
This is the second time that Mohan's and The HOPE Program have joined forces and is just one of many charitable initiatives that Mohan's is a part of. Recently, they teamed with The Salvation Army in Staten Island to fit men who had been deeply impacted by Hurricane Sandy to help rebuild their lives after the storm. Mohan's plans to continue partnering with The HOPE Program for future "Suit Up For Hope" events and is always in search of new ways to give back to the community.
