Victory never really seemed in doubt as Darton made another step towards a Region XVII championship after beating Albany Tech 63-39 in the tournament opener Tuesday night. Lashay Lettingham had 13 points as Albany Tech sees its season come to an end. Darton head coach Lea Henry believes playing to tournament on their home court gives them a little extra boost each night.
Henry said " Anybody can beat anybody we're just excited to be on our home floor and to be able to stay home and not have to travel. I think our team has had a really good year and we've earned the right to play the tournament now on our home court and we're really excited about that."
Darton will be hosting South Georgia Tech in the region 17 semifinals after the Lady Jets beat Georgia Highlands 76-67. That game will Friday at 5:30pm at Cavalier Arena.
