HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Notre Dame linebacker and Punahou graduate, Manti Te'o, ran a 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine Monday in 4.82 seconds. NFL scouts were not impressed, but you can't say the same for the late-night Hawaii News Now crew who dug up some old stats and even laced up their running shoes.
Hawaii News Now anchor Shawn Ching was a lineman for the University of Hawaii back in the 1980s. He wouldn't admit it himself, so a quick search through the archives discovered that Shawn ran the 40-yard dash in his heyday at 4.76 seconds.
Anchor Keahi Tucker decided to join the challenge, but not against Shawn or Manti. He ran against the security guard who works at the Hawaii News Now building.
The race ended in a tie with a time of 5.2 seconds.
