Winds continue to whip Hawaii

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The state forecast from the National Weather Service calls for trade winds at 20-35 mph with gusts to 45 mph today. Not every neighborhood will see conditions that windy, but most will.. and some areas will have winds even stronger. Leeward sections will have sunny skies after passing, morning showers. The high in Honolulu will be 80 degrees.

A number of wind-related advisories have been posted by the National Weather Service for both land and sea:

Wind Advisory

- Lanai Island, Maui's Central Valley, Haleakala Summit, Kahoolawe Island, along with North, East and South areas of Hawaii Island.

High Surf Advisory

- All east-facing shorelines.

Gale Warning

- Maalaea Bay, Pailolo channel, Alehuihaha Channel, Coastal waters leeward and southeast of Hawaii Island.
