Two separate moped crashes send three to hospital

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Three people were injured in two moped crashes on Oahu.

The first happened in West Oahu at the intersection of Kapolei Parkway and Kalaeloa Boulevard. Emergency crews tell us a 60 year old man hit a utility box at about 8:00 p.m. last night. Medics rushed the man to a nearby trauma center in serious condition.

The second crash happened around midnight at the intersection of Ke'eaumoku Street and Young Street. EMS officials say a man and his female passenger, both in their mid-20s were hurt when their moped slammed into a parked car. The man was taken to the trauma center in serious condition and the woman sustained minor injuries.

    There is no tsunami threat to Hawaii following a powerful earthquake in Indonesia Monday morning, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said. The 6.8 magnitude quake struck around 4:35 a.m. Hawaii time, according to the United States Geological Survey.
