Windy Weather for the Coming Week

Posted: Updated:

If it is not already breezy in your neighborhood, it will be soon. The National Weather Service is calling for increased trade wind speeds with some areas seeing gusts to 50 mph and beyond. For most of us, winds will be 20-35 mph with gusts to 45 mph. There are a number of wind-related advisories in effect.

A Wind Advisory is up for parts of Hawaii Island and Maui County. The winds have also whipped up the waves along east-facing shorelines, so they are under a High Surf Advisory on all islands. On the water, a Gale Warning will be posted at noon for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel and coastal waters south of Hawaii Island. All other waters are under a Small Craft Advisory. Expect copious amounts of sunshine leeward today. After a few morning showers, windward and mauka areas will see a little bit of sunshine as well. Highs across the state from the upper 60s to around 80 degrees.
