The
National Weather Service says a wind advisory remains in effect for portions of
Maui and The
Big Island.
Forecasters
say high pressure far north of the state will maintain strong and gusty trade
winds across the state through early Wednesday evening for
Lanai, Maui, Kahoolawe and exposed portions of the Big Island.
The
wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

winds...east 25 to 30 mph with localized gusts over 45 mph.
advisory winds will be located in areas exposed to the trade
winds...over mountains tops and through gaps.
*
impacts...winds this strong can bring down tree branches and
may cause local power outages. these winds can also make
driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles on
bridges and overpasses.
A
wind advisory indicates very strong and gusty winds are expected. Motorists
should use extra caution while driving.
