Billy V: Jean Ariyoshi, Ka Ipu 'Aina, GAR Recap

(Hawaii News Now) - Mrs. Jean Ariyoshi was given a medal of honor by the Government of Japan; when itʻs awarded, itʻs only to one per family as a rule. This is the first time the Japanese Government has honored two in the same family. Mrs. Ariyoshi was awarded her medal last month for her work in the advancement of positive relations between Japan and the US, Japan and Hawaii, and the advancement of the Way of Tea. It was hosted by Dr. Genshitsu Sen, 15th generation Tea Master from Japan. Governor George Ariyoshi recieved a separate medal from the Government of Japan 28 years ago. Congratulations!Matson has a great program, "Ka Ipu ʻAina" where if a non-profit organization qualifies, Matson will donate the use of container equipment for environmental cleanup projects arranged by the organizations; Matson incurs the expense for delivery and pickup of the containers and makes a $1,000 contribution to the nonprofit organization. This weekend it was the 5th graders from Hongwanji Mission School cleaning up Blaisdell Park in Pearl City.
