Blustery winds could stir up more problems today. Yesterday, gusts knocked down trees and knocked out power to 43-hundred customers in East Oahu. Electricity at my house was out for 14 hours! Dan says winds will be 30 mph, with stronger gusts possible.
GREAT ALOHA RUN
Runners will hit the streets this morning for a President's Day tradition, the Great Aloha Run. Most downtown roads have been shut down from Punchbowl to Bishop Street and Beretania to Nimitz Highway. Runners will start in front of Aloha Tower at about 7, then travel a little more than eight miles along Nimitz and Kamehameha Highways to Aloha Stadium. Roads downtown should reopen around 8.
SEN. MAZIE HIRONO VISITS SUNRISE
Another member of Hawaii's Congressional delegation will join us live on Sunrise at 7:30 this morning to talk about pressing issues facing our nation.
PRESIDENT'S DAY CLOSURES
All City offices will be closed including satellite city halls. There will be regular trash pick up. Buses will run on a Saturday schedule. On street parking will be free except for the meters on Kalakaua Avenue along Kapiolani Park.
