LOS ANGELES, Calif. (HawaiiNewsNow) – For the second time in three matches this
season, the University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team outlasted UCLA in five
sets (23-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23, 15-12).
With the win, the Warriors (5-8, 4-6 MPSF) snapped a nine-match road losing streak
dating back to last season. The match was also UH's eighth five-set match
through 13 matches, one shy of the school record for five set matches in a
rally-scoring season.
Hawai'i was led by its big three pin hitters – JP Marks (18), Brook
Sedore (17), and Sinisa Zarkovic (15) – who combined for 40
kills, six aces, and 10 blocks. Both Marks and Zarkovic hit over .400 for the
match. In the three sets that the Warriors won, UH hit a staggering .600 with
40 kills and just four errors in 60 attempts.
UH will continue its four-match road trip with a pair of MPSF contests at
top-ranked UC Irvine, Monday and Tuesday.
