The Great Aloha Run will take place this Presidents Day on Monday, Feb. 18, and with about 25,000 entrants expected to participate, traffic along the race route will be affected.
The 8.15-mile course starts at Aloha Tower in downtown Honolulu and makes its way down Nimitz Highway, Kamehameha Highway, and finishes at Aloha Stadium.
Road closures and the time they will take effect:
Downtown roads between Beretania Street and Ala Moana/Nimitz from 4:00 a.m. - 8 a.m.
Ala Moana Boulevard / Nimitz Highway (both directions) between South Street and River Street from 4:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Nimitz Highway (westbound) between River Street and H-1 Freeway/Viaduct from 4:15 a.m. until after race passes.
*Drivers will only be able to access Sand Island via the H-1 Eastbound or Nimitz Highway (eastbound only).
Nimitz Highway (under viaduct) between Kakoi Street and Valkenburgh from 4:15 a.m. until after race passes.
Dillingham Boulevard at Middle Street (for westbound traffic under viaduct) from 4:15 a.m. until after race passes.
H-1 Freeway at Kamehameha Highway (exit under H-1 Freeway) from 4:15 a.m. until after race passes.
Kamehameha Highway between Valkenburgh (westbound) and Aloha Stadium from 3:45 a.m. until after race passes.
Center Drive at Kamehameha Highway (BOTH DIRECTIONS) from 3:45 a.m. until after race passes.
Radford Drive between Kamehameha Highway and Bouganville from 3:30 a.m. until after race passes
Kamehameha Highway between Center Drive and Essex/Salt Late Boulevard from 3:45 a.m. until after race passes.
*Vehicular traffic will be contra-flowed in the eastbound lanes.
Salt Lake Boulevard between Kahuapaani Street and Kealoha from 6:45 a.m. until after race passes.
*Traffic will be slow moving during this time to facilitate bus movement in both directions.
Salt Lake Boulevard (U-Turn @ Kalaloa Street) between Kalaloa Street (BOTH DIRECTIONS) and Kamehameha Highway from 6:45 a.m. until after race passes.
