HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - There is no love on this Valentine's Day for Hawaii motorists where gas prices are concerned.
Retail gas prices increased again throughout the Aloha State, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.
The Hawaii state average for regular unleaded increased to $4.25 per gallon, which was seven cents more than last week, 19 cents more than last month and a nickel more on this day last year.
Honolulu's average price had a seven-cent bump up from last week to $4.20 a gallon for regular unleaded – up 21 cents from last month and up 13 cents from a year ago.
In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.28 per gallon, eight cents more than last week, 21 cents more than last month and 13 cents less than this time a year ago.
Wailuku's average is $4.16 a gallon, 12 cents more than last week, 22 cents more than last month and 13 cents lower than last year.
"The highest state average prices for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the country today are: Hawaii at $4.25, followed by California at $4.08 and New York at $3.94," according to AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. "AAA Hawaii urges motorists to consolidate their errands to make car trips as fuel efficient as possible."
