Kihei woman charged in hammer attack

WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) - Maui police say a 34-year-old woman accused of striking a man with a hammer at a homeless camp in Kihei has been charged.

The Maui News says that Amanda Blizzard has been charged with first-degree assault. Her bail is set at $20,000.

The attack occurred Saturday night. Blizzard is accused of striking the man in the back with the hammer as he bent over to pick up a piece of wood. Police say the Kihei woman fled and was arrested a short time later.
