HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Newly released 911 tapes appear to confirm the Honolulu Police Department's story that officers acted properly to minimize the danger to the public during last month's Waikiki shooting.

22-year-old Gregory Gordon, a soldier stationed at Schofield Barracks, was shot and killed while trying to evade police in Waikiki.

Gordon was legally drunk at the time.

The medical examiner says Gordon's blood alcohol level was .196, nearly two and a half times the legal limit to drive.
