HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Hawaiian
Airlines was named the nation's most on-time airline by the U.S. Department of
Transportation on Tuesday, the ninth year in a row the title has been awarded
to the carrier.
As
reported today by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Air Travel Consumer Report,
Hawaiian averaged a 93.4 percent on-time performance ranking in 2012, giving it
the top ranking in 11 of 12 months and exceeding the industry average for the
year by 11.5 percentage points.
"Hawaiian's consistency at being the nation's
most reliable carrier year after year is the product of the passion our
employees have for serving our customers well, every flight, day after day,"
said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian's president and CEO. "They are the best in the
business."
The
airline also had the industry's best overall results for fewest flight
cancellations in 2012. Only 67 of the Hawaiian's 74,109 total flights in 2012
were cancelled.
