Pope Resigns, Severe Blizzard Clean Up, Valentine's Giveaways

POPE STEPS DOWN

Big News from the Vatican: Pope Benedict XVI is retiring at the end of the month. The 85 year old said in a statement, "I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise" of his position as head of the world's one billion Roman Catholics.

LOCAL REACTION

Hundreds of local Catholics traveled to Rome this past October to witness the canonization of Blessed Marianne Cope. She was the first person beatified by Pope Benedict and one of the last Blesseds he elevated to Saint. Reaction is coming in from around the world and here at home and we'll have that for you on Sunrise.

SEVERE WEATHER AFTERMATH

The East Coast is digging out from a monster of a storm that dumped more than 3 feet of snow on the area. Power is still out to 200-thousand customers in New England and many businesses and schools remain closed. We'll get the latest live from a reporter covering the severe weather aftermath.
