1,430 gallons of wastewater discharged into Makiki Stream

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

About 1,430 gallons of wastewater was discharged from McCully Shopping Center due to a pipe blockage Sunday afternoon.

The public is advised to stay out of the waters of Makiki Stream below Lime Street, and the Ala Wai Canal near the Kalakaua Street bridge.

65 of the 1m430 gallons entered into a nearby storm drain on Pumehana Street, which empties into Makiki Stream below Lime Street.

Although it is not a City and County spill, their crews assisted in the cleanup.

The flow has been stopped and warning signs will be posted. The public is advised to remain out of these waters until warning signs have been removed.
