Rainbow Warriors grab 2nd place in big west

Manoa, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The University of Hawaii men's basketball team defeated UC Irvine, 78-72, Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Bows fifth straight win improves them to 15-9 overall 9-4 in Big West play and into sole possession of second place in the conference
The frontcourt of Christian Standhardinger, Vander Joaquim and Isaac Fotu combined for 46 points and 25 rebounds in the win. Standhardinger went for 20 points and nine rebounds, while Joaquim finished with his ninth double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Hauns Brereton added 16 points, sinking all 12 of his free throw attempts to help cement the win for UH.
UH will now return to the road to play a pair of games in Northern California, beginning with a contest at UC Davis on Thursday, Feb. 14. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. HT).
