Waipahu man arrested for assaulting HPD officer

WAIPAHU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Waipahu man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a Honolulu Police Officer.

According to police, Donald Sales was taken into custody Monday at the Central Pacific Bank in the Westgate Shopping Center in Waipahu. The 55-year-old assaulted one officer and then fought with other officers who tried to arrest him, investigators say.

During the struggle, Sales also damaged bank property.

He is now facing multiple charges. Police have not revealed why they originally questioned the suspect.
