(HawaiiNewsNow) - IHOP's National Pancake Day is typically celebrated each year during the month of February on or around Mardi Gras (also known as Shrove Tuesday a tribute to the centuries old English tradition where all dairy products were put to use in making pancakes before the arrival of Lent). On Tuesday, February 5, 2013, IHOP restaurants across the nation will give guests a FREE short stack of signature IHOP buttermilk pancakes and encourage them to donate what they would have paid for the pancakes, or more, to their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital.
IHOP Hawai'i locations are located in Waikiki, Ala Moana, Pearl City, Windward Mall and Maui Mall.

2012 Children's Miracle Network National Pancake Day was IHOP's biggest one-day event in the company's 54-year history. More than $3 million was raised for charity and more than four million pancakes were given away to guests.
Throughout the month of January, leading up to National Pancake Day, guests can show their support of their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital by purchasing "Miracle Balloons," for $1 donation, personalize and display at participating IHOP restaurants. All donations of $5 or more receive a $5 Off coupon for the next visit through Feburary 24, 2013.
February 5, 2013 will mark IHOP's eighth year celebrating Children's Miracle Network National Pancake Day and the company hopes to raise $3 million to kick off Children's Miracle Network Hospitals' 30th anniversary. Between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. in nearly all its restaurants from coast-to-coast, IHOP will invite guests to enjoy a FREE short stack of its famous pancakes and in return, invite them to make a voluntary donation to their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital with 100% of the monies raised locally staying in the community's raised. Kapi'olani Medical Center is Hawai'i's only Children's Miracle Network hospital. More than 1,500 IHOP restaurants throughout the United States will again participate in the free pancake fundraiser.
