WAIHOU, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui police have identified a 60-year-old man who fell to his death while hiking on Haleakala.
Police say Lynn Wyatt Huff of Boulder, Colorado fell about 20 to 25 feet from a cliff on Saturday.
The man was a part of a group of four hikers who were on the Waihou Spring Trail within the Waihou Spring Forest Reserve on Haleakala. Police say it appears Huff slipped and fell during the hike.
According to officers, the area is described as a forest area, with heavy saturated clay dirt, possibly due to the rainfall throughout the week.
Fire Department personnel from Makawao Station and Kahului Station were called out to the scene at 11:30 a.m. and had to hike the victim out.
